The Hakuko-kan is an institution on the theme of gold
leaf as Kanazawa's typical traditional handicraft article. Visitors
can see the history, culture, and manufacturing process of gold
leaf. The institution exhibits and sells products that use gold
leaf, such as craft manufactures, cosmetics, and food. A gold leaf
transfer and attachment experience menu is prepared for visitors.
- Gold leaf transfer experience: Seizing,
putting, and shaping gold leaf with bamboo chopsticks on a leather
board (for 10 minutes) for 500 yen
- Gold leaf attachment experience: Attaching gold leaf to objects,
such as a hand mirror and jewel box (for 90 minutes) for 1,800 yen.
The institution can accommodate a maximum of 70 visitors. (A group
of visitors must make a reservation.)
